A venturous spirit
Reginald F Buxton Haynes cofounder of TASKS FOR PEACE ORGANISATION and creator of Peace Studio was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England in May 1920 and has been a banker, entrepreneur, and world traveller.
Permanently injured by enemy action in 1944 his strong spirit seems to have been strengthened not weakened by his war disablement.
A family man he has lived in England, Canada and Barbados with his late wife Joyce during an eventful sixty three years of happy marriage and remains a purposeful thinker.
A maternal ancestor, Thomas Fowell Buxton, has a statue to his memory in Westminster Abbey in recognition of his work with Wilberforce for the liberation of slaves.
In the 17th century, some of the Haynes family established plantations in Barbados, West Indies. This ancestral background may be testimony to the author’s belief in future peace towards which are proposals in the leaves of his essays on this site.
His autobiography provides an amazing first hand account of earlier times and an intriguing background to his beliefs. More on the autobiography >>
